Course Prerequisites:

Students interested in participating in our Dry Needling course will need the following minimum qualifications:

  • Diploma Remedial Massage
  • Higher Tertiary Education: Chiropractic / Physiotherapy / Exercise Physiology (or similar health degree / diploma)

What will I learn?

  • The safe use of acupuncture needles.
  • Identification of active trigger points and their referral pattern.
  • Dry needling techniques for trigger points and associated techniques such as ischaemic compression.
  • You will learn to integrate the dry needling technique with your existing manual skills.
  • You will also be updated in the scientific basis for dry needling and how this can benefit you and your safe use of dry needling techniques.

Myofascial Cupping Workshop

Myofascial Cupping applies modern application to ancient technique, and is a terrific addition to the toolbox for Massage Therapists. It is a modified version of the ancient Eastern-style cupping, and major differences include targeting the musculoskeletal system rather than meridian systems used by Traditional Chinese Practitioners.

What will I learn?

In this workshop you will learn how to apply ‘cups’ to the skin using hand operated pump with fire – traditional glass cups. This creates ‘negative pressure’, thus causing changes beneath the skin, affecting the muscle tissue and surrounding fascia.
You will learn how to use myofascial cupping to help treat specific ailments and leave the workshop ready and confident to apply your new skills.

Our workshop presenter for Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling and Myofascial Cupping is Douglas MacLean (Dip RMT & Cert. 4 TAE), Director and Principal Remedial Massage Therapist at Ellenbrook Essential Therapies. Douglas has a history of lecturing, facilitating, presenting and supervising extensively in Remedial Massage and also as a private workshop presenter. As Director and Principal Remedial Massage Therapist of Ellenbrook Essential Therapies, Douglas has experience managing a dynamic team of allied and complimentary health professionals and can offer an insight into the hectic world of running a busy practice. All workshop attendees will benefit from his years of experience working within the industry.
