Traditional Chinese Medicine

4,000 years to refine a health care system. Not bad! Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Auriculotherapy is a holistic approach to health, based on the principles of functional balance, preventative medicine and understanding the impact of the environment and lifestyle factors on health.

Applying that knowledge to general health is my passion. Empowering people to better understand themselves and their environment paves the way for better health.

So, what are you waiting for? A holistic approach can make all the difference!

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of healthcare dating back thousands of years. It incorporates the modalities of Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Remedial Massage (Tui Na) including cupping and spoon massage (Gua Sha), moxabustion as well as diet and lifestyle advice.

TCM is based on the principle that everybody has Qi (pronounced chee) or energy and this Qi flows through your meridians who in turn nourish your body’s organs, tissues and mind. When a person has an abundance of Qi, they are healthy. When the quantity, supply or movement of that Qi is compromised, this leads to patterns of disharmony. This can be due to factors such as emotional stress, overwork, poor diet, poor rest, poor exercise and just as importantly; environmental change.

In consultation, you will be asked questions relating to your general health and history. Anything from sleep to appetite, medications etc..and then they will look at either or both your pulse and tongue. These are the most fundamental diagnostics we have. As one of my lecturers once said “the tongue never lies”. They are the 2 true unbiased representations of your body’s state of health. The beat is measured in many ways on both sides of the wrist to feel the depth, strength, pace and nature or texture. The tongue is observed for its colour, shape, markings and coating. Between these 2 methods alone the practitioner can determine quite a lot about the body’s digestive processes, immunity, circulation and more!

What Is Auriculotherapy?

Auriculotherapy is the stimulation of specific points on the ear, which is believed to be a microsystem of the entire body.

How does it work?

Small black seeds from the vaccaria plant or small metal beads or pellets are secured on the ear with a piece of adhesive tape over specific acupressure points. The continuous mild pressure they exert is amplified by stimulating the seed or pellet with a few seconds of fingertip massage every few hours. Ear seeds are non-invasive, meaning, unlike needles or tacks, they are affixed on the surface of the ear and do not puncture the skin.
